Blues legend Steve Roach urges coach Daley to select Adam Doueihi as a utility for State of Origin I based on his performance.

A Blues legend has called on NSW coach Laurie Daley to select a surprise utility player for State of Origin I - Wests Tigers' Adam Doueihi.

And Code Sports stats reveal Doueihi is currently the best running half in the NRL.

A 17-game NSW champion, Steve 'Blocker' Roach believes Doueihi would be the "perfect" utility player off the bench following his blistering form for a resurgent Wests Tigers.

Doueihi scored two tries against Canberra last round at Leichhardt and will be primed to continue his stellar form in Sunday's big game against Cronulla.

Daley has multiple utility options including Doueihi, Canterbury's Matt Burton, Sydney Roosters' Connor Watson, Canberra's Ethan Strange, Manly's Tolu Koula and Brisbane's Kotoni Staggs.

Phil Sami remains committed to joining the struggling Dragons, celebrating his 150th NRL game with the Titans this weekend.

Dragons recruit Phil Sami insists he has had no second thoughts about joining struggling St George Illawarra as he prepares to farewell the Gold Coast with a piece of history.

Sami will make his 150th NRL appearance when the Titans host the Raiders at Cbus Super Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

It will be Sami's first outing on home soil since the formal announcement he will join the Dragons at season's end on a three-year contract.

The Titans were not in a position to offer Sami, a 10-year club servant, an extension and the former Maroons winger jumped at the deal on the table from the Red V.

Since then, the Dragons have capitulated and remain winless after eight games, sacking coach Shane Flanagan last week before an embarrassing 62-16 loss to the Roosters on Anzac Day.

Apisai Koroisau faces a lengthy suspension after his fourth offence this season, impacting his team's competitive momentum.

When you think about repeat on-field offenders in the NRL, Apisai Koroisau's name is not one that rockets to the top of the list.

But in eight rounds of 2026, he now has four offences on his record and will be walking a tightrope for the remainder of the season.

He paid the price as well during Thursday night's clash against the Canberra Raiders. The Tigers might have won, but his hip drop tackle was judged to be of a Grade 2 nature by the NRL's match review committee, and he is now facing a number of weeks on the sideline.

The former New South Wales representative has been in superb form for the Tigers as they have rocketted towards the top of the competition, but the joint-venture will now need to find a way to retain their form without him.
