Canberra are eyeing a first minor premiership in 35 years after hat-trick hero Kaeo Weekes inspired a 28-24 defeat of gallant St George Illawarra at GIO Stadium.
The Dragons, missing 11 players to injury, never let the Raiders breathe easily on Saturday night but fullback Weekes' first two tries either side of the break gave the ladder leaders the buffer they needed.
With their seventh consecutive win, the Raiders move two competition points clear atop the NRL ladder and enjoy a favourable run to finals.

Three times a Weekes: Raiders rumble desperate Dragons
Quiet start; Xavier Savage and Tyrell Sloan scored, leveling the match with a penalty goal.

For a game that finished with both sides scoring 20+, it was a quiet start in Bruce. The scoreboard wasn't troubled until the quarter-mark of the game when Xavier Savage went aerial to score in the corner off a messy lead-up.
The Red V hit back through Tyrell Sloan at the 33rd minute with a right side shift, and despite Kyle Flanagan's missed conversion, scores were levelled two minutes later through a penalty goal.
