Unexpected results in Round 20 tightened the competition, impacting finals hopes and altering future predictions due to injuries.

A week of surprise results has only brought the ladder closer together, with the fight for finals places in September well and truly on.
Round 20 kicked off with the Panthers stumbling against the Broncos, a result that keeps Brisbane's slim finals hopes alive, while the Sharks knocking off the Knights at home was also against the odds.
The Raiders beating the Rabbitohs, and the Sea Eagles coming up short against the Titans also headlined the weekend, while the Roosters, Warriors, Bulldogs and Dolphins all took care of business.
With injuries also biting hard across the competition, there are some changes to future tips, and combined with games going against the run of expectation over the weekend, it means there are plenty of teams shuffling on the forecast final ladder.

Tiger escapes ban for slap, Souths star in trouble

Alex Twal has escaped suspension for his uncharacteristic slap, but Wests Tigers are set to lose playmakers Adam Doueihi and Latu Fainu as they fight to keep their mathematical NRL finals hopes alive.
The bans come on a busy Sunday for the match review committee, which has handed South Sydney's David Fifita a one-game ban for kicking Hudson Young.
Fifita struck the Canberra second-rower in the head as he attempted to regain his footing following a tackle in the Rabbitohs' 32-24 loss on Saturday.
The Souths wrecking ball was not penalised on field, but will miss the round-21 clash with Melbourne if he pleads guilty to grade-two dangerous contact.

The Canberra Raiders have been dealt a massive blow by the match review committee and it couldn't come at a worse time.
Owen Pattie faces up to a two-game ban for grade-two dangerous contact on South Sydney prop Keaon Koloamatangi.
He'll miss just one game if he takes the early guilty plea, which would mean he'll miss the clash against the Wests Tigers at Canberra Stadium next Saturday, but that doubles to two games if he fights the charge and loses.
It's terrible timing, given the Green Machine are on a three-game winning streak and need to keep that going to have a chance of playing finals.
