The Canberra Raiders have reportedly been linked to a surprise play for St George Illawarra Dragons star half Ben Hunt.
Hunt has recently re-signed with the Dragons until at least the end of the 2025 season, however, has expressed that he could look for a way out of the club if coach Anthony Griffin is punted.
The Dragons have lost their last four games on the hop, and it seems increasingly likely that Griffin will be lucky to see out the season, let alone receive another campaign in charge.
'Val Meninga' closer to Dolphins debut with Lee on ice
Known as 'Val Meninga', Dolphins fan favourite Valynce Te Whare is a chance of making his NRL debut against Cronulla and showcasing what his nickname is all about.
A hamstring injury to Dolphins centre Brenko Lee in last weekend's 31-30 loss to Canberra has opened the door for Te Whare to potentially get his shot at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.
The 22-year-old trained at right centre on Tuesday while Lee sat out. Lee has been named but Te Whare is in the 21 and is ready to slot in.
In a thumping blow to the Manly Sea Eagles and New South Wales Blues, experienced forward Jake Trbojevic is expected to be sidelined for the next four weeks after suffering a calf injury.
Trbojevic has not been named for the Sea Eagles' Magic Round clash with the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night, having sustained a grade-two calf injury in Manly's unexpected defeat to Gold Coast at Brookvale Oval at the weekend.
The inspirational front-rower/lock has been hit by injury less than a month out from the opening State of Origin match, scheduled for Adelaide Oval on May 31.
