We love the mighty Canberra Raiders
The "Ooh ahh" is back baby.
After four long COVID-19 afflicted years, the Canberra Raiders held their first members day at their Braddon centre of excellence on Wednesday, with fans finally able to get up close and personal with their heroes.
Not since 2019 have there been this many lime green-tinted selfies taken, with a hair's breadth separating which was the most asked question.
It was the question every Canberra Raiders member desperately wanted to know the answer to: "Jack can you please stay?"
But it's also a question South Sydney has confirmed their interest in too, emerging as a surprise suitor for star five-eighth Jack Wighton.
The Rabbitohs are reportedly poised to snatch Wighton away from Canberra on a deal worth $1 million less than what the Raiders offered the Dally M Medal winner if the figures are accurate.
Canberra Raiders champion Jack Wighton is reportedly set to join the South Sydney Rabbitohs in a deal that could rock the NRL to its core.
Fox Sports’ James Hooper revealed that Wighton was expected to travel to Sydney on Friday to finalise “what is tipped to be a four-year deal with South Sydney until the end of 2026”.
It would add more firepower to an already powerful Rabbitohs side who have made the preliminary final stage in each of the last five seasons.
Hooper revealed that the deal is expected to be worth around $3.4m a season — which is a million dollars less than the Raiders’ $4.4m deal which was lodged with the NRL.
