THE South Sydney Rabbitohs are on the verge of landing one of the biggest recruitment coups in recent seasons in the form of Canberra Raiders star Jack Wighton.
Fox League has learned Wighton is expected to travel to Sydney on Friday to finalise what is tipped to be a four-year deal with South Sydney until the end of 2026.
The contract is expected to be worth around the $3.4 million mark over four seasons – which is $1 million less than the $4.4 million deal the Raiders have tabled.

Raiders captain could leave at season’s end

It may be the end of an era for the Canberra Raiders and Jarrod Croker next season, as the captain's player option for 2024 will not be triggered.
Croker initially signed a four-year extension in 2020, however a clause in his contract stated he would only earn a player option for 2024 if he played a certain amount of NRL games within the three years- 2021, 2022, 2023.
Confirmed by Fox Sports, he will unfortunately not be able to trigger the 2024 player option.
Raiders rivals confirm interest in Wighton

It was the question every Canberra Raiders member desperately wanted to know the answer to: "Jack can you please stay?"
But it's also a question South Sydney has confirmed their interest in too, emerging as a surprise suitor for star five-eighth Jack Wighton.
