    Achieving back-to-back finals wins for the first time since their inaugural premiership nine years ago, the Sharks held their nerve after conceding first points with a performance that silenced the majority of the 24,322 supporters in attendance.

    The loss was a devastating result for the Raiders, who lost Ethan Strange on game day with influenza, as they became the first minor premiers since St George Illawarra in 2009 to bow out of the finals with consecutive losses.

    Sharks' Thomas Hazelton suffered a concussion from a head clash and was ruled out.

    Sharks front-rower Thomas Hazelton spent a brief period of time motionless on the ground after a sickening head clash with Raiders hooker Tom Starling left him concussed in Saturday night's semi-final.

    Hazelton took a hit-up in the first half and came off second best in a head clash with Starling in Canberra.

    The Cronulla prop was ruled out after failing a head injury assessment.

    Ethan Strange is ruled out for the Raiders' final against the Sharks due to illness.

    The Raiders have been dealt a cruel blow just hours out from their elimination final as the club confirmed Ethan Strange will not face the Cronulla Sharks on Saturday.

    The young five-eighth has been an instrumental figure for the Raiders this season but had been ruled out due to illness for the club's looming do-or-die battle.

    Canberra said Strange had fallen ill overnight in a statement on Saturday morning.
