  • 'Hunt stays there': Cronk's blunt Broncos rethink as masterclass upends Mam plan

‘Hunt stays there’: Cronk’s blunt Broncos rethink as masterclass upends Mam plan

Cronk backs Reynolds-Hunt pairing, warns Broncos should not break them up when Mam returns.

    Fox League

Cooper Cronk has seen enough of the Adam Reynolds-Ben Hunt halves pairing to know the Broncos shouldn't break it up when Ezra Mam returns from suspension mid-season.

"That combination of Adam Reynolds and Ben Hunt is going to be a very, very good thing," Cronk said on Matty and Cronk.

Reynolds had a linebreak assists and three try assists in the 50-14 win over the Broncos, while his new five-eighth Hunt has 34 run metres, a linebreak, a linebreak assist and a try as the pair sent an ominous warning to the rest of the NRL.

Originally Hunt was brought to the Broncos to play hooker and offer cover for the halves, but Cronk believes Michael Maguire must keep him in the halves in a one-two punch with Reynolds for the rest of the season.

Tourists bring poker chips, Canberra Raiders bring Viking Horn souvenir from Las Vegas.

    The Canberra Times

Most tourists coming back from Las Vegas will bring back souvenir poker chips, but the Canberra Raiders have a much bigger memento in mind - their brand new American-made Viking Horn.

The initial plan was to leave the custom-built horn in Vegas, however the club was so impressed by it, Raiders chief executive Don Furner decided it'd be the perfect souvenir to remember their historic 2025 season-opener.

"We're going to try and bring the horn back and put it in our reception as a memento," Furner told The Canberra Times. "We are just waiting for pricing on the freight.

Bennett’s bumper Souths No.7 call as Roosters face harsh injury reality: Round 2 Team Tips

Wayne Bennett makes key coaching decision as Lewis Dodd vies for No.7 jersey at South Sydney.

    Fox League

Master coach Wayne Bennett has made some massive coaching calls throughout his glittering career, and he's about to make another with all eyes on South Sydney's team list on Tuesday to see whether high-profile recruit Lewis Dodd is able to force his way into the No.7 jersey.

"You'll have to read the papers on Tuesday," he said with a grin after the game when asked if Humphreys would keep his job.

Dodd signed a three-year deal to be the club's halfback, but a one-game ban ruled him out of their round one clash against the Dolphins which allowed young gun Jamie Humphreys to come in and show he belongs in first grade.

The one-time Sea Eagles was brilliant on Friday night, kicking for a whopping 711 metres and making 24 of his 25 tackles to put pressure on Bennett to make a potentially season-defining call in the halves.
