Hudson Young excited to represent Australia in upcoming rugby league Pacific Championships. Squad selections coming.

It would be music to Mal Meninga's ears - Hudson Young sees representing Australia as the pinnacle of rugby league.

The Canberra Raiders star is part of Meninga's extended Kangaroos squad for the upcoming Pacific Championships against New Zealand and Tonga.

The squad will be trimmed for Australia's Tests against Tonga at Lang Park on October 18 and the Kiwis at Christchurch on October 27.

The Canberra Raiders will consider making a play for Newcastle prop Leo Thompson if he becomes available on November 1.

He could be the perfect replacement for Raiders great Josh Papali'i if the enforcer hangs up his boots at the end of the 2025 NRL season.

The Raiders are also keeping an eye out for any available hookers to bolster their dummy-half stocks, having been linked to Brisbane Broncos No.9 Cory Paix.

Xavier Savage transitions from uncertain club to Prime Minister's XIII contender after NRL breakout.

Less than a year ago Xavier Savage could have been looking for a new club.

Now a breakout NRL campaign has put him as one of four Canberra Raiders in the Prime Minister's XIII mix.

Australia PM's coach Brad Fittler said Savage, Jamal Fogarty, Ethan Strange and Hudson Young were in the mix to face the Papua New Guinea PM's XIII at Port Moresby on October 13.
