    Kaeo Weekes has signed a new two-year deal at Canberra as reward for his breakout NRL season.

    Weekes now holds a contract through 2027 and looms as the Raiders' likely fullback for round one next season following Jordan Rapana's move to the Super League.

    Weekes has played 17 games for Canberra since moving from Manly this season and received the coaches' award at the club's awards night last week.

    A fullback coming through the grades, Weekes can also play in the halves in a pinch having helped the Raiders remain in the hunt for the 2024 finals by starting at halfback...

    They might not be playing NRL finals, but it's still a good start to the week for Canberra Raiders fans.

    Raiders playmaker Kaeo Weekes is on the verge of re-signing for two more years, with his extension until the end of 2027 potentially announced as early as Tuesday.

    Weekes was contracted to the Green Machine until the end of next year, which meant he could begin talking to other clubs from November 1.

    Jarrod Croker reckons playing inside Nick Cotric "was like babysitting sometimes".

    Like the time they came out of a video session, during which Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart urged his troops to switch on and concentrate.

    "I turn around and Nick is there getting chased by a mother duck, protecting her ducklings. I'm like 'mate, what are you doing here'," Croker said on SEN's Saturdays in the Capital.
