Canberra are on the brink of their worst NRL home streak in almost a decade but there's no reason to panic just yet, according to coach Ricky Stuart.

The Raiders have not heard the GIO Stadium viking horn sound in triumph since a golden-point victory over Gold Coast in round seven.

A loss to the Warriors on Friday would extend the home victory drought to at least 15 weeks.

The last time the Raiders lost five in a row at home was in 2014, when they finished the season second bottom.

Stuart occasionally disappointed in players' energy, but emphasizes importance of balance throughout season.

There are days Ricky Stuart walks off the training track disappointed with the energy and performance of his players.

"But it's not often," the Canberra Raiders coach said.

"Look, it's a long season. It doesn't start in February-March, it starts in November-December. It's a very, very long season and how you balance that with workloads, how you balance that with their life outside football, how you balance the breaks in regards to the byes, it's very important.

Raiders sign English player Matty Nicholson to continue tradition of recruiting UK talent.

There's a bit of buzz around Raiders HQ for the team's newest English import, Matty Nicholson, as his signing continues the club's proud history of recruiting UK talent.

Nicholson's signing was confirmed last week with the Raiders announcing he will join the Green Machine next season on a three-year deal.

The second-rower is set to replace outgoing fellow England international Elliott Whitehead, but will join countryman Morgan Smithies in the Raiders squad.
