The magic number: Raiders prepare for a finals fling

Tom Starling believes Raiders need to win all games, vows to bounce back defensively. Flying early.

    The Canberra Times

Tom Starling's had a quick look at the run home, done the maths and thinks the Canberra Raiders might need to win all four remaining games to make the top eight.

But the Raiders hooker backed the Green Machine to do exactly that - vowing to atone for their poor defensive display last weekend.

Ricky Stuart moves Ethan Strange to centres to cover Rapana's absence due to concussion.

    The Canberra Times

Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has shifted NRL rookie-of-the-year-contender Ethan Strange to the centres as part of a backline reshuffle to cover the loss of Jordan Rapana.

With Rapana going into the 11-day stand-down, Sebastian Kris has shifted to the wing with Strange moving from five-eighth to play alongside him at centre.

Annesley defends NRL decision against Raiders, admits mistake, supports ruling on Fogarty tackle. Raiders struggle.

    The Canberra Times

NRL head of football Graham Annesley has defended the decision that robbed the Canberra Raiders of a crucial try, admitting it was wrong but declaring the referee had no option but to stop play.

In what will be a frustrating postscript to a result that put the Raiders' finals bid on life support, Annesley also backed the ruling that Jamal Fogarty wasn't put in a dangerous position in a second-half tackle.

It would be unfair to lump all of the Raiders' problems on refereeing decisions after they slumped to a loss to Manly, conceding 40 points or more at home for the third time this season.
