Canberra invites Dana White to blow $10,000 Viking horn at NFL debut in Las Vegas.

Canberra have extended an invitation to UFC boss Dana White to blow a new American-made Viking horn costing in excess of $10,000 to trumpet their side's Las Vegas debut.

The blowing of the horn has become a tradition at Raiders home games and the club wants American fans to share in the experience for the NRL season-opener at Allegiant Stadium. The task of transporting their usual horn all the way to the United States was deemed too difficult, prompting the club hierarchy to commission a Los Angeles-based firm to construct a new 3.6-metre, 36-kilogram instrument especially for the occasion.

Canberra signs Owen Pattie to a contract extension, boosting hooker position with NRL potential.

Canberra look to have finally found a long-term hooker in Owen Pattie, who has signed a bumper contract extension with the Raiders.

Pattie shone with two tries for the Raiders in their first NRL trial, a defeat of understrength Penrith, and has now been fast-tracked into first-grade plans.

Originally only a development player for 2025, Pattie has been upgraded to the Raiders' top-30 squad and will remain at the club until at least the end of 2028.

ARL Commission chairman Peter V'landys has launched an audacious bid to get United States President Donald Trump in the stands to watch rugby league after issuing an eyebrow-raising invite on prime-time breakfast television in America.

The Australian rugby league season will return to Las Vegas for the second time in two years when four teams play their season-opener in the gambling mecca next weekend.

V'Landys - known for his bold ambitions be it in racing or rugby league - wants Trump in the stands with him for an NRL extravaganza.
