‘Didn’t know me from a bar of soap’: Papenhuyzen reveals unknown hero behind return

    Fox League

Storm star Ryan Papenhuyzen said he felt "really good" after returning from a 405-day injury lay-off in a 37-16 win over the Titans but did admit he went through some "dark days".

Papenhuyzen started on the bench and was injected into the game in the 61st minute - his first piece of NRL action since suffering a gruesome knee injury against the Raiders in Round 18 of last season (July 17, 2022).

Papenhuyzen was typically lively in his 19 minute stint, playing a roving role in the middle of the field, with the Storm breaking open the game when he came on, outscoring the Titans 19-0.

The 25-year-old premiership winning player returned to the NRL through a few games with the Sunshine Coast Falcons in the QLD Cup, which he credited as important to his confidence levels.

In a recent update regarding the Broncos' team list for their upcoming game against the Raiders, it has been confirmed that Broncos lock Pat Carrigan will not be able to play due to foot soreness.

This setback has paved the way for Keenan Palasia to take his place in the team's 17-man lineup.

Carrigan's injury is serious enough to warrant a scan, which will be conducted to determine the extent of the damage.

The results of this scan will likely dictate the length of Carrigan's absence from the field.

    The Canberra Times

The voices of Raiders greats - both from on the field and behind the scenes - will be captured in perpetuity in a series of oral histories, to be known as The Bleeding Green Interviews.

Raiders club historian Dr David Headon is commandeering the oral histories project to ensure some of the club's greats get to tell their story.

The Raiders secured $15,300 through the ACT Heritage Grants program to complete the project. The club and other supporters were expected to match that amount, ensuring the project runs over a number of years and preserves as many voices as possible.
